About Mark J. Morette

Mark J. Morette is the second-generation owner of Mark Custom Recording Service, Inc. Based in Clarence, New York, Mark Recording was founded in 1962 by Vincent S. Morette, a music technology pioneer and innovator who brought together music education and the tape recorder. Mark followed in his father’s footsteps and has been recording for over 30 years. Mark has been privileged to work with some of the finest names in music. This includes: Dizzy Gillespie, Allen Vizzutti, Ellis, Winton, and Branford Marsalis, Chuck and Gap Mangione, Bobby McFerrin, and Shelly Berg. Pop music favorites; Ginger Baker, Richie Havens, Denny Laine, 10,000 Maniacs, Goo Goo Dolls. Classical artists; Fred Mills (Canadian Brass), PentraBrass (Italy), Joe Alessi, Chicago Symphony, Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, Tokyo Kosei Wind Orchestra (Japan), The United States Air Force, Marine, Army, Navy, Coast Guard Bands and choirs, UNTx Wind Symphony and Symphonic Band. Vocalists and ensembles: Hila Plitmann, Conspirare, New York Voices to name a scant few. Mark has been honored with over 220 GrammyTM Entry List appearances for his recordings, producing, and Mark Records releases. Mark has been awarded the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra’s award for “Outstanding Service to Music Education, ” the International Percy Grainger Society’s “Grainger Medallion,” New York State Band Director’s Association “Outstanding Service” Award, the Phi Beta Mu’s “Outstanding Contributor” Award, and Kappa Kappa Psi/Tau Beta Sigma “Distinguished Service Medal.” Mark has been the featured speaker at the Woman’s Band Directors International luncheon, Buffalo State College’s “Entrepreneur in the Arts” series and is widely sought after as a lecturer and panelist on all aspects of music business. This includes; “Copyright, Copywrong, Copy Confusion” on copyright for the educator, “The Role of the Producer in the Studio,” “Recording Techniques for Classical Ensembles,” “Jazz Band Recording Techniques,” and “The History of the Wind Band and It’s Recorded Archives.” In addition to his lecturing and recording Morette also is in demand as an adjudicator and has judged numerous festivals throughout the world. Mr. Morette also serves on the advisory boards of Dixie Classic Festivals, NYSBDA (New York State Band Director’s Association) and the Northshore Concert Band. He is a Industry Liaison for WASBE (World Association for Symphonic Bands and Ensembles).
