From the Maslanka Archive – No. 30, Jim Tevenan’s Interview of David

From the Maslanka Archive features media and stories of David’s life and work. Did you work with David? Please consider contributing material.

It’s time for another edition of From the Maslanka Archive. We are actively building the Archive, but it won’t be ready for public viewing for a while. In the meantime, we wanted to show off some great items we’ve already collected.

We also wanted to inspire YOU to help grow the collection. We would love to feature you in an upcoming edition! Simply provide us with photos, video, audio, or stories of your time together and you may find them on the front page.

This week, we are excited to feature an episode from Spokane Public Radio’s From The Studio featuring Jim Tevenan interviewing David about his music. The Whitworth Wind Symphony had just performed David’s Symphony No. 4.

Listen below to From The Studio: David Maslanka from May 2, 2017. The original episode was obtained here.

From spokanepublicradio.org:

After more than 25 years of teaching music, theater and English in the San Francisco schools, Jim Tevenan relocated to Spokane in 1995 to become Organist/Music Director for St. Augustine Parish on the South Hill. Since 2004, with the help and patience of Verne Windham, he has been able to realize his long-standing dream of doing radio. Jim specializes in classical music, but also can do the occasional jazz show. Jim and his wife, Carol, fill their free time caring for llamas, rabbits, and chickens after having watched their two children grow up and leave the nest.
